This was yet another interesting incident about Sachin Tendulkar. Lately seeing lot of wrong information on social network, I thought of writing about this incident as it happened. There are slightly incorrect details going around, so here is the correction to it.
The story starts with the Match at Hyderabad in Oct 2007. We have always seen Sachin and Hyderabad Combo, but this is not the match that memory reaches out for on hearing Sachin & Hyderabad.
Brad Hogg bowled Tendulkar in this match. As Hoggy revealed it later saying , “…there was a photo of it, I asked him to sign for me. He did it and wrote me a message. Underneath his signature, he wrote, ‘This will never happen again, Hoggy.” (http://hindu.com/2007/12/23/stories/2007122360851900.htm)
Scorecard Of The Match :- http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/297795.html
After this Match Sachin Played hogg for 13 innings (not 21 as mentioned incorrectly in many fwds) against a Aussie team which has featured Hogg and has kept up his word.
Here are the list of matches starting with the Hyderabad match -
Overview Info :
8 ODI’s —> 8 Innings (Including Hyd ODI)
3 Test Matches —> 6 Innings.
So, in 13 Innings – Hogg failed to take Sachin’s Wicket. Plus in particular in the Test Matches down under, Master absolutely clobbered Hoggy for huge sixes with staggering strike rate of 89.86 [which is tremendous in a 5day match].
| Venue | Ball Faced | Runs Scored | Fours | Sixes | Strike Rate |
| Melbourne [MCG] | 25 | 30 | 3 | 1 | 120 |
| Sydney [SCG] | 70 | 49 | 5 | 1 | 70 |
| Adelaide | 53 | 54 | 2 | 2 | 101.88 |
| Total : | 148 | 133 | 10 | 4 | 89.86 |
It shows the seriousness with which he takes his dismissals. He is known to remember all his dismissals and definitely he is not the one to take them kindly. He does repay them back. Olonga might be the most famous example but with little more effort one could reel some more names that have been cut in size over the years.
