Chris Gayle & A Collection of Shattered Records

Chris Gayle scored a hundred in 30 balls today against Pune Warriors India. It is the fastest hundred on record in all forms of cricket – First Class, List A or T20.

His innings of 175 not out is the highest in all T20 cricket.

It comfortably beating the 158 not out scored by Brendon McCullum in the inaugural IPL game for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The innings helped Royal Challengers Bangalore post a score of 263-5, a new T20 record.

It beat Sri Lanka’s score of 260-6 against Kenya in the 2007 World Twenty20.

Gayle hit 17 sixes in his innings beating Graham Napier’s record of 16 during an innings of 152* for Essex against Sussex in 2008.

Gayle was also well ahead of the IPL record of 37 balls: by Yusuf Pathan for the Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in 2010.

The fastest First Class hundred on record is by Australian batsman David Hookes, who punished Victoria for a 34-ball ton in 1982-83.

Gayle completed his first fifty in just 17 balls, an IPL record.

Gayle equalled the IPL record set by Adam Gilchrist in the 2009 tournament for the Deccan Chargers against the Delhi Daredevils.
